Route description

The West Bay triathlon is a Sea swim Triathlon aimed at all levels of fitness and ability, the shorter distance option makes this event perfect for someone thats taking part in their first event or if you have entered triathlons before and are looking to improve on your sprint distance ability.

This is the 3rd year of the West Bay triathlon (But we did take a break in 2018) and we are running the event to encourage people to take on the challenge of this great sport. You can enter the event as an individual and complete all three disciplines over the Sprint or shorter distance Super sprint, or as a relay team with friends or colleagues.(One person to do each element, so 3 different people in total).
And if you dont fancy swimming enter the Duathlon for an equally testing challenge.

The swim

To start the event you need to swim either 200m, 400m OR 1500M from the beach (any stroke is fine) and then you make your way to the transition area and prepare for the bike ride. 200m (Super-sprint) / 400m (Sprint) / 1500m (Olympic)

The bike

After completing the swim you will then jump on your bike for 19K or 26K around the local country lanes. The route isnt that hilly but pace yourselves accordingly.(The olympic only has some hills) 19km (Super-sprint) / 26km (Sprint and Duathlon) / 46km (Olympic)

The Run

Once the bike has been completed you then return to transition for the run, this is 3k / 5.5K around the surrounding paths and includes some off road sections.(Not mud, just linking paths) 3 km (Super-sprint) / 5.5km (Sprint and duathlon run 2) / 8km (Olympic and duathlon run 1)
